About this spot

The landlocked striped-bass capital of the Southwest, straddling the Texas–Oklahoma border an hour north of Dallas. One of the few reservoirs where stripers reproduce naturally, so the bite runs year-round; blue catfish and smallmouth are strong secondary targets.

A Lake Texoma license covers both the Texas and Oklahoma sides. Texas side: striped and hybrid bass 10 a day with no minimum, only 2 of them 20" or longer, no culling; crappie 10" and 37 a day; largemouth and smallmouth 14", 5 a day.

Questions people ask

Do I need a fishing license to fish at Lake Texoma?

Yes (anglers age 16 and older). To fish at Lake Texoma you need the appropriate state fishing license. See the agency's current rules: the state agency website

What fish are commonly targeted at Lake Texoma?

Lake Texoma is listed on this site for 7 commonly-targeted species: Striped Bass, Blue Catfish, Channel Catfish, Smallmouth Bass, and 3 more. Which species is currently in season and which is scoring highest today is shown in the per-species ranking on this page.

When is the best time to fish at Lake Texoma?

It depends more on the species and the day's conditions than on a fixed "best hour." Water temperature, weather, and — at tidal locations — the stage of the tide drive activity most. What kind of access does Lake Texoma have?

Lake Texoma has multiple access types — pier, shoreline, and at least one public boat ramp.

Which state's fishing regulations apply at Lake Texoma?

state agency regulations apply at Lake Texoma. Size limits, creel limits, and seasonal closures are listed per species on each species page. Always confirm against the agency source linked from each regulation block — emergency closures can take effect mid-season.

Is Lake Texoma tidal water?

No. Lake Texoma is non-tidal — water level varies with rainfall, seasonal flow, and (where applicable) upstream dam releases rather than tidal exchange.
